• Abdominoplasty

Often referred to as a “tummy tuck”, an abdominoplasty removes excess skin, fat, and corrects muscle laxity that can result from pregnancy, aging, and weight loss. It removes the lower abdominal bulge and loose skin that does not improve with diet and/or exercise. Procedures are tailored to the needs of the individual patient and range from the mini-abdominoplasty to a full contouring procedure. In general, patients seeking abdominal contouring procedures should be in general good health, no longer plan future pregnancies, and have a stable weight. The operation results in a lower abdominal scar that usually can be covered by undergarments or bathing wear.

• Body Contouring after Weight Loss

Weight loss either from diet/exercise or after gastric bypass surgery often results in changes in your body shape that cannot be improved without surgery.  Frequent areas of concern include the abdomen, buttocks, back, breast, thighs, and the neck and face.  I started treating weight loss patients in 1999 and truly enjoy the opportunity to help these patients to continue to transform their lives.  Each person has unique needs to be evaluated and discussed.

• Liposuction

Liposuction (suction assisted lipectomy or SAL) is one of the most popular cosmetic plastic surgery procedures.  The technique is best used on those areas of the body that do not go away with diet and exercise. Liposuction encompasses a variety of techniques that share the common components of “breaking” fat then removing it by way of a vacuum.  The majority of patients can be treated as an out-patient.  Small treatment areas at times can be treated with only local anesthesia and sedation.  The recovery time is generally quick with limited time off work.  Incisions and subsequent scars are small and placed in areas easily hidden by undergarments.  Compression garments are routinely used after the procedure and the final new contour is fully seen until several weeks after the procedure.

• Rhinoplasty (Nose reshaping)

Modern rhinoplasty techniques can change many features of the nose while maintaining the long-term structural stability.  Hump reduction, lengthening or shortening of the nose, refinement of the nasal tip, nose straightening are all possible with a minimal external incision.  In some cases concurrent treatment of the nasal septum is performed to improve breathing.  At times cartilage grafts are necessary to achieve the best result.  The procedure is done under general anesthesia as an out-patient.  The early result is apparent with the external splint removal at the first post-operative visit, but the final fine details are not apparent for many months after the surgery.

• Facial Rejuvenation

A variety of methods are available to restore a more youthful facial appearance.  The normal aging of skin results in loss of elasticity, the onset of facial wrinkles and lines, and often pigmentation changes.  Sun exposure accelerates the process and causes a more weathered appearance to the facial skin.  Techniques available to reverse the signs of aging include non-surgical treatments such as dermal fillers, Botox® Cosmetic, and chemical peels as well as surgical treatment of the forehead, eyelids, facial skin laxity, and neck laxity.
