Complications that require a return to the operating room or medical therapy following elective cosmetic surgery are rare but can occur. Costs associated with additional treatment are unlikely to be covered by your insurance company and are the patient's responsibility. I participate in the CosmetAssure® program which provides you with a short-term insurance that covers costs associated with additional treatment resulting from a complication. • Combined Cosmetic & Insurance Covered Procedures
Patients scheduled for a cosmetic pre-paid procedure in conjunction with a medically necessary procedure will have the medically necessary portion billed to their medical insurance.  Although prior authorization may have been obtained for your medically necessary surgery, it is not a guarantee of payment. It is important for you to understand as much as possible about your particular insurance plan. Please check with your insurance carrier for specific information related to your benefits. Understanding your coverage will put you in a better position to make decisions about your medical care. Your medical procedure may be subject to deductibles, co-payment, coinsurance and/or non-covered services. MetroHealth’s Care Management Department may contact you regarding your out-of-pocket portion of the medically necessary surgery and may require a pre-payment or payment arrangements before your surgery takes place. Please note that the pre-payment for your elective cosmetic procedure does not cover and is completely separate from any deductibles or co-payments required by your carrier for the medically necessary portion of your surgery.
